IP Australia implements fee changes from October 1, 2024
IP Australia announced that some fees are updated to continue covering the costs of administering intellectual property (IP) rights and their associated legislation. The application fee, examination fee, acceptance fee and continuation fees for standard patent applications have been increased, however, the application fee for designs has been decreased.
In addition, a new excess claims fee process has been introduced. Additional fee for each claim exceeding 20 will be charged after the first report issued rather than at acceptance. However, Additional fee for each claim will also be charged at acceptance if the amount of claims is added between first report and acceptance and the maximum number of claims exceeds 20.
